Day Shift (vampire movie) movie review

Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco star in "Day Shift," a vampire hunting movie. The movie is about a blue collar working dad who wants to provide for his child's happiness. But, his mundane job at the pool in San Fernando Valley serves as a front for hunting and killing Vampires as part of an international Union of vampiric hunters.

The premise sounds interesting, but can J.J. Perry deliver the goods?

The movie's first scene is an action sequence featuring Jamie Foxx firing a shotgun at a woman who turns into a vampire. The movie then launches into an amazing fight scene between them. The movie's use of ragdoll physics in its action scenes makes them pop in a way that many other action movies (or blockbusters) do not.

Day Shift has the quality of a bad movie. It's so obvious what they were trying to do, and yet they failed so miserably. It is lacking in acting ability, dialogue, and plot. But somehow, I found myself enjoying it. Maybe it's my obsession with vampire movies, maybe it's just because I like watching bad movies. Day Shift was great. Although it's not a great film, it's still a lot fun. This is all I expect from a movie like that.

Day Shift had mixed reviews. The movie has a lot to offer, including some good action and characters (the brothers and Seth), while the villain is terrible and the characters are very average. It felt like some scenes had been left out. Bud's neighbor acts like they're friends, even though before the final scene she maybe had 3 minutes of screen time. I guess that (original source) helps the better characters shine even more. It's a fun movie overall, but could have been more.

Snoop Dogg almost got lost in my thoughts. He is great in Day Shift. He makes the movie worthwhile. His character is funny and he has great lines. More importantly, he just feels so natural in the part. It's as if he was made for the role.
